The M220 Pro mostly has a flat-sounding audio profile, just like most stereo headphones. The headphones feature a large diaphragm and circumaural semi-open design for high-definition sound quality.  If you are used to punchy bass booms, then these headphones may sound too flat. But listening to these for some time can get you to adjust well. The bass response is quite good as it’s neither too overpowering nor too underwhelming. Although it lacks heavy bass, the sound and vocals are crystal clear. In addition, the M220 Pro does a great job of balancing the trebles that most headphones fail to do.

In terms of soundstage, it has quite an impressive broad soundstage because of its semi-open back design. However, this semi-open back design also leads to no sound isolation. Thus, using these headphones in noisy environments is a big no-no. Using an amplifier significantly improves the overall sound clarity and soundstage too. Overall, the AKG M220 Pro delivers crystal clear sound quality with a wide soundstage and average bass which sounds soothing to the ears.

These Over-Ear Studio Headphones do not come with any kind of built-in or boom microphone.

Nevertheless, the headset is quite sturdy and solid despite its full plastic body. A close look can make you realize that the plastic is of a bit cheap quality but it justifies the given price point. It carries a classic stereo headphone design with a matte finish and is currently available in two color variants- White and Black. The headband is quite flexible with synthetic leatherhead suspension for extra support. Priced around $70, these are a pretty solid pair of headphones that look equally nice for an entry-level professional studio headset.
