JBL Tune 600BTNC Review

Our Verdict77

The overall review of JBL Tune 600BTNC shows that with appreciable features such as active-noise-cancellation, great sound quality, and great bass, the JBL Tune 600BTNC is a great pair of headphones. Also, wireless Bluetooth connectivity serves the purpose of convenience in today’s world where you need to multi-task. Though the pair of headphones stormed the market back in 2018, the good amount of features and JBL sound quality at such a reasonable price point makes it worth it even in 2021. The trendy design at 4 classic colors will never go out of fashion and is perfect for audiophiles who need a budget option that performs well too. However, people with bigger ear lobes may go for other options as these may get uncomfortable and ANC won’t work as well as it should.

The JBL Tune 600BTNC has an overall good sound quality which is clear and balanced. The headphones have a deep bass feature called “pure bass” which sounds punchy and crips without distorting the vocals. Although, sometimes the bass may overpower in ranges where it is not needed but doesn’t sound awful. The low and high frequencies were accurate resulting in a good tonal balance. The headphones come with a good frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz and 32 mm drivers. Due to its powerful dynamics, the music is a treat to the ears, especially the pop and rock genres. Though, music belonging to every genre sounds quite good

The “NC” present in the name of 600BTNC stands for noise cancellation and the headphones do a pretty good job in living up to expectations. The headphones boast the ANC function as their main feature and succeed in eliminating most ambient noises. Also, the closed-back on-ear acoustic design helps in achieving good isolationHowever, the ANC feature also depends on several external factors like your earlobe size, because the small ear cups may fail to cover the whole ear. Hence, people with larger ears size will be able to hear more ambient noises even while ANC is turned on. The call quality is also crisp and clear but overall, the headphones are best for listening to music.

The headphones also do a good job in receiving/rejecting calls through a dedicated button between the volume rockers. Therefore, the inbuilt dedicated calling microphone plays a major role here. The microphone succeeds in reproducing a crisp and clear voice, the person on the other side won’t face any difficulty in hearing your voice. Also, the microphone blocks a good amount of background noises but may become less efficient in loud surroundings.

The JBL Tune 600BTNC comes in a flat and foldable all-plastic body but doesn’t look as cheap. At the given price point, the headphones look sleek and appealing. The headband has almost a slightly matte finish which feels smooth and of good quality. Also, the ear cups have a glossy finish to the back, giving it a lively contrast but is susceptible to scratches. Unfortunately, they do not provide any carry case or pouch so you have to be careful with them. Available in 4 classic colors of Blue, Pink, Black, and White, music lovers have a variety to choose from. The earcups have soft padding with a leatherette cover making them quite comfortable. However, their small size may be a huge put-off for people with bigger ears.

Coming to the control buttons, they are all housed on the right ear cup consisting of the power button, play/pause button, volume rockers, and on/off active noise cancellation. Finally, the built feels quite sturdy and solid considering its all-plastic body and budget price.

Though they are mostly preferred for Bluetooth connectivity, you can also play music through the wired audio cable provided in the box itself. The headphones support Bluetooth 4.1 and pairing is quite easy and fast, however, it can be paired with a single device at a time. So, you have to go through the pairing process all over whenever you are connecting to a new device. You will see a small blue LED lit up when they are paired. But, overall, the Bluetooth connectivity is seamless and is not laggy while streaming videos too.

Regarding the wired audio cable, it is not the standard 3.5 mm, but you can easily find out a replacement for that. The cables also do not come with any in-line controls. At the end of the day, these headphones perform best with a wireless connection which is much hassle-free
