Surround Sound (7.1)

The SteelSeries Arctis 7 delivers excellent sound quality with clarity across frequencies. The bass emphasis is good but not as strong as other gaming headsets giving it a much subtle bass boost. The 7.1 digital surround sound support by DTS Headphone: X 2.0 can be your next favorite thing while gaming because it does its job quite well. You can have one of the best immersive gaming experiences regardless of the type of game. Games like Overwatch and The Witcher 3 sound great with subtle bass and surround sound, whereas flat genre games sound great too!

The gaming headset also supports ChatMix dial, which is a great feature providing you chat-game audio balance. Most hardcore gamers look for this feature in their ideal gaming headset. However, in terms of music experience, it is not as great as gaming. The most obvious reason is that it’s specially designed for gaming purposes. Nevertheless, music presets are available in both stereo and surround sound mode so that you can adjust accordingly.

Overall, the headset has an excellent audio profile in gaming and does a fair job of listening to music; none of them sounds awful.

Voice Clarity & Compression
Sound Isolation

The headset comes with a non-detachable boom mic like most gaming headphones. The mic is situated on the left earcup, which is retractable and extends up to 4 inches. It is a clear cast bidirectional microphone that is used by aircraft carrier decks. What makes it unique is that instead of picking up noises from all directions, it is specially designed to emphasize voice from your mouth. The voice clarity is brilliant, and the chat game audio balance lets it shine through more. In terms of noise isolation, it succeeds in blocking most ambient noises. Overall it’s a good microphone with no issues while gaming.

While the headphone ensures comfort, the overall design may feel bulky, making it less portable. Although it’s not that heavy, weighing just about 354 grams, the headphones are massive. However, they are pretty stable and clamp nicely on your head. You can use these headphones for light sports and workout sessions. All in all, the Arctis 7 stands out as one of the most comfortable gaming headphones on a budget.
