Turtle Beach Recon 70 is a decent wired gaming headset that is great for beginners. The gaming headset is quite straightforward, which means you won’t get any fancy features such as ANC, surround sound, app customization, etc. Also, you don’t get any wireless connectivity, making it a good entry-level gaming headset. Despite the limited features, it doesn’t compromise the quality and delivers excellent sound quality and solid build. So, let’s dig in further to see what Turtle Beach Recon 70 has to offer.

Despite the super-low price tag, the Turtle Beach Recon 70 surprisingly delivers very well-balanced audio. The sound is crisp, clear, and almost flat. Thus, if you love a thumpy bass, these might disappoint you. Other than that, the neutral sound profile sounds nice for almost every genre. However, action-packed games might sound a bit too flat, where most people prefer a bass-heavy effect. Although the frequency range is quite generic like most headsets, the consistency is not appreciable. The audio experience highly depends on the fit and seal of the headset; thus, it lacks the consistency of audio.

The closed-back design of the headset results in not so impressive soundstage but not too bad either. So, the overall soundstage remains average like most closed-back gaming headsets. The design also helps in providing mediocre noise isolation. As the headset lacks active noise cancellation, do not expect it to block noises in noisy environments. We can say that the Turtle Beach Recon 70 delivers good quality audio. All thanks to its 40 mm drivers with neodymium magnets.

The Turtle Beach Recon 70 houses a non-detachable boom mic that extends from the left earcup. The voice reproduction quality is quite good and can be easily flipped to mute/unmute. You get a pretty crisp voice chat quality while gaming which sounds better than many headsets that are way costlier. It’s because it is a super-sensitive Omni-directional microphone. In terms of noise isolation, it’s the same as the headphones. It works fine until you step into loud surroundings.

This wired gaming headset carries a simple design that isn’t too flashy or too boring to look at. It has an all-plastic chassis which feels quite sturdy and not too cheap considering the price point. The headset is currently available in white or black variants with bright-colored accents such as blue, green, and red.

The best part is that this headset is extremely lightweight, weighing just about 270 grams! Insane. It makes them ideal for gaming marathons. Also, the earcups are pretty large and are well padded with memory foam covered with leatherette. However, the leather material isn’t as premium and doesn’t feel that nice on the skin. Even the headband has padding, but some users complain of it being tight on the head. You can swivel the earcups to flat, making them easy to slide in wide spaces.
