Sound Quality
The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 surprisingly has very well-balanced audio with a perfect bass boost. The audio is quite neutral, which sounds good across games of all genres. The frequency response range also remains quite decent; however, the bass and trebles might vary if a person has lots of hair, wears glasses, etc. In short, the headphones fit around the ears can determine the audio experience. The wireless headphones have a good bass profile which means it’s neither too flat nor too thumpy. Thus, the action-packed games sound nice with perfectly rumbling noises such as firing, flying jets, and explosions.
Also, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 introduces its exclusive Super Human Hearing sound, which is a part of gaming sound enhancement. It focuses on providing accurate sound to the gamers, such as approaching enemies’ footsteps. Coupled with the 7.1 surround sound support, you can enjoy the immersive gaming experience. Overall, the Stealth 600 manages to deliver a decent sound quality which is quite suitable for gaming.
Microphone
The wireless headset features a non-detachable boom mic which you can easily flip to mute. The voice reproduction by the boom mic is quite satisfactory; however, sometimes S and T sounds might sound too sharp. In terms of noise isolation, it again does a fair job and is perfect in moderately loud environments. Using these in pretty noisy environments such as a gaming convention isn’t a good idea.
Design
The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 isn’t your regular gaming headset because these feature a unique ProSpecs glasses-friendly design. Yes, you heard it right; the design is focused on people who have a hard time adjusting to glasses. In terms of overall look, it’s all-plastic built, with most of it having a matte finish. However, the earcups boast a glossy look and colored accents along the rim of earcups. Also, you can see the signature logo of Turtle beach at the back of both earcups. The padding is also quite spacious and is made of thick memory foam. However, the mesh fabric cover isn’t as comfortable or soothing to ears as it would be with plush leather. Currently, the headset is available in two dual-tone variants- black & green and black & blue.
Although the overall look is quite decent, the size and build are disappointing, like most gaming headsets. The headset is relatively bulky and bit on a heavier side weighing almost 600 grams. Nevertheless, many gaming headsets can be cumbersome as they aren’t meant for high-intensity movements like workouts or sports. Also, the build quality feels doubtful, and we don’t recommend testing a fall at all! We can say that as a budget gaming headset, the build quality seems compromised.
Compatibility
Compatibility is the primary factor where you have to choose to buy the Stealth 600. The headset is available in two variants- one is compatible with PS4, and the other is with Xbox One. Now, the PS4 variant is fully compatible with a PC, whereas you might need to buy a separate wireless adapter to connect to the PC with the Xbox variant.
Connectivity
The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 features non-Bluetooth wireless connectivity and no wired connection at all. The PS4 variant comes with a wireless USB dongle, but the Xbox One doesn’t come with one as it can be easily connected through Xbox Wireless. The connectivity range of the headset is great, covering a radius of about 34 meters. The low latency of the connection makes them perfect for watching movies apart from gaming.
The wireless gaming headset also boasts a decent battery life of up to 15 hours on a single charge. And, it takes a fairly long 3-4 hours to charge fully. Unfortunately, the headset cannot be used further with a wired cable if it runs out of battery.
Control & Comfort
Although the headset houses most control a gamer needs, they can be pretty confusing at times. Yes, the buttons are not user-intuitive at all. For example- the channel mixing dials used to control game chat audio/volume are hard to understand as they are closely packed and complex. On the left earcup, you get a power button and a “mode” button which lets you customize EQ settings which are again too identical. The only easy control you get on the headset is the boom mic which can be muted/unmuted in one easy flip. The mesh fabric earpad covering can be a letdown for many, and the fit can be a bit stuffy. Also, the headsets lack a sleek and lightweight design. Hence, the headset is not so comfortable for long hours of gaming.
