The Motorola MG 7550 looks somewhat similar to its other Motorola lineups like the MG 7700. The built-in wifi and cable modem is housed in a compact structure which you can find in most of the latest router setups these days. It has a vertical standing body that is relatively close and saves a lot of space compared to horizontal laying routers.

At the front panel, you can see seven LED indicators that show various statuses of the router and modem. Ideally, you will see five green LEDs and two blue LEDs depicting Power, Downstream link, Upstream link, Connection status, 2.4 GHz Wireless link, 5 GHz Wireless link, and WPS. At the rear panel, you get color-coded ports for easy setup. You can see four Gigabit Ethernet ports in the yellow section. Each Ethernet port has two LEDs indicating data flow and LAN connection speed – green indicates 1 Gbps, whereas amber suggests 10-100 Mbps.

The red section below the Ethernet ports houses a reset button and buttons to turn WLAN and WPS on/off. To turn on the Wi-Fi output, you need to turn on the WLAN button as well. Also, to allow seamless connection each time, you need to enable the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button to don’t have to enter the password every time you connect.

The blue section on the rear panel has a coaxial connection responsible for sending data to the modem. At the bottom, you get a power jack and power button housed in the green section. The in-built router of MG7550 is a 3 x 3-gigabit router, which means it has three send and three receive channels that are highly capable of broadcasting content in small to medium-size homes and offices.
